Senator Khalwale's fighter bull 'Inasio' kills caretaker

According to Khalwale, the deceased was found in the cowshed by another employee.

A bull belonging to Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Saturday killed its caretaker.

According to a police report seen by the Star, the incident happened at his residence in Shikhuyu village, Shitoli Sub-location in Kakamega.

The deceased, Kizito Moi according to the report filed by the Senator at Malaika police station was aged 46.

"Police officers from Malaika police station and DCI personnel visited the scene and established that indeed there was a body of one Kizito Moi aged 46 years who was a caretaker of the fighter bull namely Inasio aged 5 years and approximately weighing 520 kgs," the police report reads.

"The body had multiple visible injuries suspected to have been inflicted by the fighter bull. The scene was processed and the body was moved to Kakamega Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem." 

According to Khalwale, the body was found in the cowshed by another employee while he went around doing his duties.

Speaking after the incident, the Senator said the deceased staff has been the caretaker of all his fighter bulls over the last 20 years.

Khalwale said the bull could have attacked the caretaker on Saturday night when he returned it to the cowshed.

He added that his body was found on Sunday morning.

According to the Luhya tradition, Khalwale explained that a bull that kills the person who takes care of it has to be slaughtered.

The meat is then divided among villagers.

"In keeping with our culture, for killing his caretaker, champion bull, Inasio meets his end by the force of my Spear," the Senator said.
