Kenyans react as Nyayo Stadium makes it to Kanye West's world tour list

American rapper Kanye West is set to perform at Nairobi's Nyayo Stadium in December during his 2024-25 world tour, according to his schedule.

The rapper's planned tour dates and schedule were shared on X by Donda Times highlighting Nairobi as one of the tour's destinations in Africa.

The rapper also shared the schedule on his Instagram story as a conversation seeking more venues for the planned tour

According to the schedule, Kanye will perform at Nyayo Stadium on December 7, before heading to Nigeria for a Lagos performance a week later.

The itinerary for the tour covers several locations, including Mexico City, Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Houston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Madrid, Cairo, London and Dubai.

The rapper is set to perform 16 shows in the United States of America and 16 other shows outside the USA.

The African leg of Kanye's tour is expected to make stopovers in Kenya, Nigeria and Egypt.

Although the ticket prices for the show have not been announced yet, Kenyans have expressed their anticipation for the planned tour.

"Kanye to Kenya? Dude probably said he must visit the country that has the same syllables as him," one X user, @5peopleke, wrote.

"Niko kejani looking at what I will sell to get Kanye West's ticket. 1. Fridge 2. Pool Table 3. Sony Television I am safe," another said.

Some Kenyans keep speculating whether the planned tour will take place.

"Kanye West teases shows in Nairobi and Lagos this December. Ye posted this on his Instagram Stories, but will it happen?" CNN journalist, Larry Madowo wrote.

Nyayo Stadium currently has a capacity of 15,000 people and is mostly used for sports events.
