Inside DP Gachagua's busy diary, school tours

Gachagua visited his former primary and secondary schools over the week.

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was a man of the moment over the last week when he missed President William Ruto's three-day tour of Western Kenya.

The DP concentrated in Nairobi holding political meetings and visiting his former primary school in his Nyeri backyard.

Gachagua also chaired a cabinet meeting at his Official Karen Residence as part of the cabinet's routine meetings to review the progress of government programmes.

The DP started the week with a presidential reception of a visiting head of State

Gachagua joined his boss President Ruto at State House Nairobi during the reception of Poland President Andrzej Sebastian Duda.

On Tuesday, Gachagua chaired a joint Cabinet Committee as part of our routine of ensuring coordinated delivery of the Kenya Kwanza Plan.

He said the efficiency and effectiveness in development require an Interministerial exchange of notes on the progress of implementation of various flagship interventions. 

On Thursday, Gachagua visited his former school, Kabiru-ini Primary School in Mathira Constituency, Nyeri County.

He said that with the suf teachers and the community, the humble institution immensely and immeasurably defined who he is today.

"It was, therefore, befitting going back to appreciate the school, motivate and encourage the pupils and teachers,"  Gachagua said.

''It is a responsibility we should bear in appreciation of schools and other institutions, which refined us."

On the same day, Gachagua held a meeting with the leadership of Embu County, led by Governor Cecily Mbarie at his rural home in Nyeri County.

The others included; Senator Alexander Mundigi, Woman Representative Hon. Njoki Njeru, Manyatta MP Hon. Mukunji Gitonga, Runyenjes MP Hon. Karemba Muchangi, Mbeere North MP Hon. Geoffrey Ruku and Mbeere South MP Hon. Nabert Muriuki.

On Friday, Gachagua was in Kirinyaga County where he warned that the government will continue cracking down on cartels fleecing Kenyans.

He said that the Ruto administration supports local investments, but not unscrupulous business tactics intended to harm the people to get rich.s

"Business or undertaking that puts lives of citizens in danger requires absolute action from all responsible agencies in holding to account, anyone who is found culpable," Gachagua warned.

Gachagua said that firm action will be taken against National Government Administration Officers and security officers who through laxity or corruption will abet the manufacture, distribution and sale of killer drinks in their jurisdiction.

He was speaking in respect to an incident in Kirinyaga County where we have lost lives to poisonous drinks.

On the same day, Gachagua also visited Kianyaga Boys High School and held a meeting with the Board of Management to transform the School into a model learning institution.

"I toured the School's facilities and ongoing projects including construction of the school gate and a swimming pool," he said.

On the same day, Gachagua presided over the commissioning of the Expanded Joy Millers Processing plant in Kutus, Kirinyaga County.

He said increased processing capacity will increase the direct market for our maize farmers as the company makes a footprint in the export of flour.

"The @WilliamsRuto Administration is deliberate on the Manufacturing and Industrialisation Sector as a key ingredient to empowering our people as espoused in the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda," he said.

"Mr Julius Chomba, the proprietor of Joy Millers Limited is a testimony of sheer determination to create opportunities for our people in local investment."

On Saturday, the DP was in Murang'a where he was the chief guest at a fundraiser organised by Nominated MP Sabina Chege at Bishop Gatimu Kinyona Girls High School.

The event aimed at raising funds for the construction of a multipurpose hall in Kigumo constituency.
