Despite Kenya Power announcing the resumption of electricity token purchase services on Saturday evening, Kenyans have taken to social media to deny the same.

Many Kenya Power customers were Saturday stranded for the better part of the day after they were not able to get token number despite paying for the same.

At 4:20 pm Saturday, the utility firm said there was a delay in token generation as well as postpaid bill payments.

"We are experiencing a technical hitch which is affecting both our prepaid (token generation) and post-paid bill payment systems," the firm said.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused."

Hours later at 7:50 PM, Kenya Power announced that the token purchase services had resumed.

"We wish to inform our prepaid and postpaid customers that we have resolved a technical hitch that was affecting the token generation and postpaid bill payment," the company said.

KPLC said customers could now purchase prepaid tokens and pay their postpaid bills without delay.

"Undelivered tokens will be sent to respective customers in the shortest time possible," the lighting company said.

"We once again apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your patience."

But that has however not been the case as hundreds of Kenyans took to its social media page to express concerns that normal services had not resumed.

The problem persisted until Sunday morning.

This writer on Saturday, at exactly 22:52 on Saturday, made payment for the prepaid token purchase and is yet to receive the required for completion of the purchase process by the time of going to press.
