Man arrested for allegedly defiling 13-year-old stepdaughter in Machakos

A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly defiling his 13-year-old stepdaughter in Athi River, Machakos County.

The suspect was arrested at his rented house in Embakasi Estate within Athi River Township on Friday.

Athi River South subcounty police commander Jos Mudavadi said the suspect had been on the run to avoid arrest after he allegedly committed the offence in January 2024.

He was arrested at around 11.00 pm on Saturday, three days after he returned to the house from the hideout following a tip-off.

The minor's mother is the complainant in the case having reported the matter to Athi River police station on January 28, 2024.

The minor is a Grade 8 student at a local public school in Athi River sub-county.

A medical report seen by the Star shows that the victim was examined at a private hospital in Kitengela, Kajiado County on January 30, 2024.

Mudavadi said the suspect will be arraigned in Mavoko Law Courts, Machakos County on Monday.
