Israeli-Canadian televangelist Benny Hinn is expected to hold a mega crusade at Nyayo Stadium on 24-25, February 2024.

It is therefore no surprise that the man of God has been trending on X for the better part of Saturday, with a number of users linking him to the day's light showers.

"Thank you, Daddy Benny Hinn, it rained in Nairobi," a user Churchil Omondi wrote on his account.

Others took to talking about the pastor who was abducted and robbed off, while he was going to dinner following a busy session organising activities for the Benny Hinn crusade.

DCI said the pastor was abducted, stripped naked, photographed and forced to reveal his M-Pesa PIN lest the photos be uploaded on his social media platforms.

They said he transferred Sh55,000.

Three men have so far been arrested in connection with the crime.

This came to light in September 2023, when in an undated video, the pastor shared the news saying the same would be a government-sponsored crusade.

"Something amazing happened. The First Lady of Kenya flew from Nairobi with her team, just for one reason; to ask me to come back to Nairobi for a nationwide government-sponsored crusade," Hinn said.

This was, however, recently refuted by the chairperson of the meeting's Organising Committee Archbishop Harrison Nganga who said the mega crusade is organised by churches in Kenya and Kenyans of goodwill who gave their support in cash and kind.

"This event has been organised, funded, and coordinated by the Churches of Kenya, which include both mainstream churches and evangelical churches, to connect the Body of Christ in Kenya with the Global Body of Christ," he said on Tuesday.

Among those who have confirmed their attendance is Apostle Ezekiel Odero of the New Life Prayer Centre and Church.

In a video on TikTok, the man said he would be attending the crusade alongside his wife and urged other Kenyans to make time and do the same.

Hinn's visit is not devoid of criticism.

Gospel musician Reuben Kigame happens to be among the Israeli-born pastor's top critics.

In his Facebook page, Kigame has alleged that the preacher's sermons are not based on the Bible and are "out of keeping with the fundamental doctrines of our faith as taught in the 66 books of the Bible".

He also claims that the man is in Kenya to "help clean the church's image".

"His coming is given as the need to "unlock revival" and help clean up the image of the church following the last general elections. I don’t understand what that means, so I will let it pass, except to say that, if the Kenyan church messes, it should not ask Benny Hinn to clean up the mess for them," Kigame alleged.
