340 graduate with digital skills through Huawei’s solar-powered mobile classroom

Some 340 students in Uasin Gishu county have graduated with digital skills through Huawei’s DigiTruck programme.

The seven-week digital skills training, which is offered through a solar-powered classroom by Huawei imparts participants with skills to navigate and be able to earn an income through the digital economy.

The Uasin Gishu chapter of the DigiTruck programme was done in collaboration with the Gladys Boss Foundation.

According to the Uasin Gishu Woman Representative, the participants have now acquired valuable skills and their graduation marks an important chapter of their lives.

"This graduation marks a significant milestone for these students who have worked hard to acquire valuable digital skills.

"I am proud of their dedication and commitment to improving their prospects in the digital age," Gladys Boss said.

The mobile digital classroom conducted practical sessions covering various topics including basic digital skills, online job searching, CV writing, and online marketing.

Huawei representative during the graduation ceremony Eng. Maureen Mwaniki said they remain committed to supporting initiatives that back digital inclusion and skill development in rural areas.

"We are thrilled to see the impact of the DigiTruck programme in empowering youth across Kenya. Huawei remains committed to supporting initiatives that promote digital inclusion and skills development," she said.

The solar-powered mobile classroom has been instrumental in bridging the digital divide gap in rural Kenya.

Through the programme, more than 4,600 youth across 28 counties have been trained.
