In a heartwarming twist, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua led other cabinet secretaries on Tuesday afternoon in throwing a surprise party to celebrate Roads CS Kipchumba Murkomen's birthday.
The brief ceremony happened at DP’s Karen residence moments after a joint cabinet committee meeting.
Gachagua chaired the meeting.
“After the joint cabinet committee meeting in Karen this afternoon, we took time off to celebrate Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport, Kipchumba Murkomen,” Gachagua wrote.
“Happy 45th birthday, Mr. Murkomen” Gachagua added.
The CSs were seen clapping and engaging in joyous moments as the DP led in cutting the cake with the words "Happy birthday OKM".
On his social media pages, Murkomen could not hide his joy as he thanked his colleagues and the staff from his office for the surprise.
"What a special team we serve," he wrote.
“Many thanks for the surprise birthday celebration hosted in my honour by H.E Deputy President and my cabinet colleagues. Grateful also for the staff at the Ministry of Roads and Transport and those of the Deputy President’s office for the very yummy cake that was escorted by a violinist.”
Murkomen, a former Senato, was born in 1979 in Elgeyo-Marakwet county.
