Tears as TikToker Brian Chira laid to rest in Kiambu

Hundreds of Kenyans on Tuesday turned for TikToker Brian Chira's  final sendoff at his family's home in Gathanje, Ingitei village, Githunguri in Kiambu County.

A memorial service and tribute ceremony to celebrate his life was held over the weekend at Rainbow Resort in Ruiru.

The day began with body viewing and collection at the Kenyatta University Hospital mortuary.

A convoy of cars heading for the Tiktoker’s burial was seen making a stop at the Hospital for body viewing.

The mourners then followed the procession to his burial site in Kiambu.

It was an emotional moment for the mourners as they watched his body lowered to the grave.

Family and friends had earlier paid their moving tribute to the TikToker.

Many fans  who never made it to the event shared their last messages online 

His grandmother remembered Chira as a God-fearing man and the family's breadwinner.

She recounted the Tiktoker's childhood saying that he was a responsible boy who looked after his other family members.

His grandmother said that Chira was left in her care at the age of eight after his mother's death.

"Brian Chira was my first grandson, born by my first daughter. He has been my best friend since childhood. He has been providing for us and has been obedient as always. He took care of his cousins. He could wash and clean the house," she said.

Musician Otile Brown delivered a heartfelt rendition of his hit song 'One Call' at TikToker Brian Chira's funeral.

He took the stage and sang the song as the mourners sang along with him to the song.

"One call away Call me if you need me. Shujaa wako. I'm only one call away," they sang.

The song was Chira's favourite song and the singer acknowledged that his death had made Kenyans to flock his YouTube channel to stream the song.

An eulogy seen by the Star described Chira as the son of the late Sofia Wambui Chira, grandson to Esther Njeri and nephew to Regina Njoki Chira and the late Alice Njoki Chira.

He was cousin to Ian Mureithi, Ryan Chira, Stacy Chira and Sofia Njeri.

Chira was a famed TikToker who came into the limelight through a news piece where he was an eyewitness to an accident.
