President William Ruto's UDA party has announced a new calendar for its grassroots elections in a second attempt to conduct the divisive exercise.

Ruto is faced with the headache of holding democratic party elections, which is also the case with his political competitor Raila Odinga of ODM.

The two main political protagonists are, however, gearing up to bite the bullet and hold the normally chaotic and divisive party polls.

Should they succeed, they would have broken a decade-long break before any party conducted successful elections.

When ODM came close to holding one in 2014, it was scuttled by the infamous 'men in black'.
