NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua welcomes Mary Njeri to the party during a meeting with Naivasha leaders.

NARC-Kenya leader Martha Karua has rubbished claims by President William Ruto that the government does not have funds to pay the striking doctors.

She said that this could be achieved if the government stopped what she alleged as lavish spending which she claimed had seen the country lose millions even as patients continue to suffer in hospital beds.

Karua said that the blame for ongoing suffering and strike lay squarely on the hands of the President.

“We reject claims by the President that the country does not have funds to pay the intern doctors salaries as we have seen the ongoing lavish spending by the government,” she said.

Speaking after meeting the party officials and supporters in Sawela Lodge in Naivasha, Karua also decried the status of public hospitals.

She revisited the alleged fake fertilizer scandal noting that it posed a major threat to food security in the country amid a rise in the cost of goods.

She said that the situation had been worsened by the presence of sub-standard seeds in the market warning that this could in future have adverse effects on food safety.

“This is a well-calculated move by those involved in the food cartel to deny farmers certified seeds and fertilizer so that in future we shall have a food shortage,” she said.

Flanked by the party delegates, she spoke on the Ndabibi land conflict in Naivasha which has seen over 30 individuals arrested and arraigned in courts.

She called for the immediate withdrawal of tens of GSU officers who have camped in the disputed land.

The party chairman in Nakuru John Ngaruya condemned the continued occupation of the Ndabibi land.

The Party's national organizing secretary Paul Gichuke said that they had launched a countrywide campaign to meet their supporters while preparing for the 2027 general elections.
