Kenya Railways has temporarily suspended a Nanyuki train as heavy rains rendered a section of the railway line at Thika-Mitubiri area inaccessible.

A statement released on Thursday stated that the Safari train will not run on Friday.

"We wish to notify the public that owing to the heavy rains, a section of the railway line at the Thika-Mitubiri area has been affected. As a result, the Nanyuki Safari train will not run on Friday, April 19, 2024," the statement reads.

Kenya Railways stated that its technical teams are on the ground to address the situation and restore the railway line for normal operations to resume.

"The safety of our passengers is of paramount importance to us and we are doing everything to ensure the network is safe for operations," it added.

Kenya Railways apologised for inconvenience caused.
