Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna led ODM members during the National Governing Council on Thursday to honor the departed souls who belonged to the party.

Sifuna asked the members to stand and remove their caps, taking one minute to honor those who were with them during the last NGC on February 25, 2022, but were not present today.

"With great respect and humility, allow me at this juncture to ask all of us to be upstanding and to remove our caps in honour people who were with us in the last NGC, February 25, 2022 and are not here with us today," Sifuna said.

He went on to mention a few names and asked to be reminded of any he might have forgotten.

Silence was observed for one minute before the program continued.

"Just to mention but a few, in the period between now and the last NGC we lost the chairperson of ODM Migori County Philip Odero, Chair of Rarieda branch Onyango Omollo, Chair of Kilgoris ODM Ole Kiptigoi, and MCA Narok Town Lucas Kudate."

Kudate passed on while undergoing treatment at a Nairobi hospital.

The Orange party is holding the National Governing Council (NGC) meeting, barely two weeks after the outfit’s National Executive Council meeting.

“The NGC is meeting to endorse the resolution of the NEC. This includes revamping the election coordinating committee ahead of our grassroots elections,” ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna said.

The NGC will among others approve NEC’s decision to disband the National Elections Board following a recommendation of the Central Management Committee.

NEC had ratified the establishment of the three-member National Elections Coordinating Committee to oversee the devolved polls.
