Ohangla dancer Sheila Wegesha died of an exsanguination, an autopsy has revealed.
Exsanguination is the action or process of draining or losing blood
Pathologist Dr Michieka Michieka conducted a postmortem on the body at Shalom Community Hospital mortuary on Friday.
After examining the body, Michieka gave his findings as to the cause of death being exsanguination due to sharp force trauma to the neck.
Samples were also taken for DNA and toxicology analysis.
Wegesha was found dead in her Athi River home, Machakos on Thursday.
Detectives have launched probe into Wegesha’s murder.
The popular Ohangla dancer was known by her stage name Sheila Wegesha.
It is suspected that Sheila, aged 38, was killed on Thursday morning before her body was found in bed hours later in the Hill View estate.
Police reported that her 18-year-old daughter stumbled upon her lifeless body in bed before raising an alarm.
The body which was discovered at about 1 pm Thursday, May 9, lay with a pool of blood caked around it.
It had a deep cut in the throat, police said.
Police handling the matter said they are looking for the deceased’s husband who is said to have been seen in the house hours earlier.
He is reported to have left the house past midnight on Wednesday without saying anything to the other family members who were present.
He left in his car, the daughter said.
The detectives said they wanted to have a conversation with the man over the issue.
The motive of the murder is yet to be known.
No arrest in connection to the dancer’s murder had been made by press time.
