Floods update: Fatalities hit 277 with 75 people still missing

The Interior ministry said that the heavy rains has so far impacted over 411,716 people.

The Ministry of Interior now says that the death toll from the recent floods has reached 277.

This is even as 75 persons remain missing.

In the latest update given on Monday, the ministry said a total of 188 people have sustained injuries.

A total of 58,009 households have been displaced and this has directly affected approximately 290,045 people.

The ministry said that the heavy rains have so far impacted over 411,716 people.

While this is the case, the government has set up at least 163 camps across 22 counties, hosting 39,023 people.

Some of the most affected counties over the last 24 hours are Tana River, Garissa, and Lamu as a result of the Tana Delta flooding due to heavy rains received in the Central region.

The ministry said a landslide was recorded in Narok county.

About 1,967 schools have been affected by the floods.

Some 62 health facilities have also been reported damaged across 11 counties.

Approximately crops on 9,816 acres of land have been destroyed and 8,722 livestock dead.
