Second lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi now wants parents to support Gen Zs to develop solutions to society's environmental challenges.
According to Dorcas, this should be in line with the theme of this year's International Day of Families.
She also urged families to adopt sustainable climate actions in their various homes.
Pastor Dorcas said these actions will help correct the errors committed on the environment over the years.
"As the world marks this year's International Day of Families themed 'Families and Climate Change', I urge families to adopt sustainable climate actions in their homes to correct the errors we have committed over the years.
"I also call on parents to encourage and support Gen Zs to be innovative and develop critical solutions for the pressing problems facing our environment," she said.
The second lady further noted that through her office, she will continue championing for instilling of values to families.
"My office's vision of 'A Dignified Future for Vulnerable Populations' is set on the foundation of 'Chaplaincy, Outreach, and Family Values'. I continue to encourage the instilling of values in our families for a dignified future. May the Almighty God bless all the families in this nation."
The 2024 International Day of Families aims to raise awareness of how climate change impacts families and the role families can play in climate action.
The day will be marked on Wednesday, May 15.
2024 marks the 30th anniversary of the International Year of the Family.
