We'll announce date for relief food distribution in Budalangi, ODM tells residents

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party now says that they will soon announce dates for the distribution of relief food and supplies in Budalangi, Busia county.

The party, in a clarification said the distribution will not be this coming weekend.

ODM said a message has been in circulation in WhatsApp groups in the county saying that the drive will take place over the weekend.

The party said the date will be announced by the chairperson of the Disaster Response Committee Eddy Gicheru.

"The distribution of Relief Food and other supplies to the victims of floods in Budalangi Sub-County in Busia County will not be done this weekend as is being circulated in some online groups in the County.

"The date for this activity will be announced by the Chairman of the ODM Disaster Response Committee and communicated to everyone by the Directorate of Communications," the party said on X.

ODM flagged off the first consignment of donations to various people affected by floods on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the relief distribution initiative was taken to Mathare Constituency in Nairobi county.

Last week, the Orange party formed a nine-member Disaster Response Committee.

According to the party, the Committee would coordinate response and relief efforts to the ongoing flood crisis on behalf of the party.

The party said the team had been formed as part of their response to the current National Flooding Crisis.

Members of the Committee include senators Eddy Gicheru (Migori) and Hamida Kibwana (Nominated), MPs Mishi Mboko (Likoni), Catherine Omanyo (Busia county) and James Nyikal (Seme).

Members of the County Assembly of Nairobi Peter Imwatok (Majority leader), Nasra Nanda (Nominated) and Abbas Khalif (South C ward) are part of the committee.

ODM Youth Director Benson Musungu is also a member of the Committee.

This came about two weeks after Raila announced that the Opposition was mobilising support within their networks which will be delivered to the affected individuals "shortly".

He said several leaders allied to the opposition were already fundraising for the same.
