The hearing of a case in which Michael Macharia Njiri alias DJ Brownskin is accused of aiding his wife's suicide continues today.

DJ Brownskin was charged in June last year with aiding his wife Sharon Njeri Mwangi's suicide. She died after taking poison.

The husband allegedly watched as she killed herself.

DJ Brownskin faced another charge of destroying suicidal evidence from his phone on June 1, 2023, knowing that the said evidence would be required in judicial proceedings.

The DJ had been captured in a video that went viral watching his wife taking the lava poison.

Sharon’s brother Benson Irungu who testified last month told trial magistrate Gilbert Shikwe that even though she was violent, the husband ought to have taken the poison from her hands rather than just watch her end her life.

“When you see someone wants to harm themselves, you must try and stop them. Macharia should have taken the poison off her hands,” Irungu said.

Irungu’s wife Catherine who also testified in the case said Macharia incited Sharon to commit suicide because, in the video clip, he was captured saying “Mix them gather them”.

The hearing continues before Shikwe at the Milimani law courts in Nairobi.
