Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has hit back at the UDA secretary general Cleophas Malala over his statement ealier on Wednesday that warned her and two other leaders of disciplinary action.

Malala on Wednesday said he is deeply concerned by reports of indiscipline amongst a section of elected leaders in UDA, specifically Wamuchomba, Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.

In her response to the alleged defiance of party leadership, Wamuchomba said the UDA party stands for liberty which she is obliged to follow.

"My party is called the United Democratic Alliance meaning the party is founded by democratic principles mainly liberty and equality. You have the Liberty to do the needful," Wamuchomba said.

"I’m happy you have started the journey; it will be bumpy and Itchy. We don’t buy fear, we die while chewing razor blades. You touch the hill you shake the mountain," the outspopken UDA legislature said on X late Wednesday.

Wamuchomba claimed the genesis of her inclusion on the list of party members alleged to be disrespectful is her attendance of the Limuru 3 where a section of Mt Kenya leaders advocated for one-man-one-vote one-shilling mode of revenue share.

"What was your problem? come clear," she said.

In a hard-hitting statement, Malala accused the three leaders saying their behaviour will not be tolerated as they go against the UDA party ideals.

"My attention has been drawn to the fact that certain individuals continue to show blatant disrespect to the party leadership, including the Presidency. This behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated within the realms of our Party," he said.

Malala insisted that their actions amount to not only undermining the party's unity but also disrespecting the leadership they pledged to serve.

"Let this be a stern warning: desist from such actions with immediate effect. Should this behaviour persist, the party will take disciplinary action against you," he said.

Wamuchomba has openly opposed various key policies by the Kenya Kwanza administration including the proposed Finance Bill, 2024.

She also missed meetings sanctioned by the deputy president for leaders from her home county, Kiambu.

In January, the Githunguri MP said she has no apologies for defying some of Kenya Kwanza's policies.

Wamuchomba said most of her views are informed by where and how she was brought up and schooled.

That background, she said, influences her actions and persuasions beyond the political expectations of other people.

"They only see us on screens and they don't understand the other burdens that we carry. I have very special burdens that I carry based on where I have come from," Wamuchomba said.

"I knew if I did agree with them then, there is a section of people that I represent which I felt were not going to be treated fairly."
