The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Cleophas Malala has told off elected leaders who have been defying the party leadership.

In a statement on Wednesday, Malala said that he is deeply concerned by reports of indiscipline amongst a section of elected leaders in UDA.

He said the behaviour by leaders including MPs Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Gathoni Wamuchomba (Githunguri) and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga will not be tolerated in the party.

"My attention has been drawn to the fact that certain individuals continue to show blatant disrespect to the party leadership, including the Presidency. This behaviour is unacceptable and will not be tolerated within the realms of our Party," he said.

Malala insisted that their actions result in not only undermining the party's unity but also disrespecting the leadership that you pledged to serve.

Malal insisted that should this behaviour continue, the party will be forced to take action.

"Let this be a stern warning: desist from such actions with immediate effect. Should this behaviour persist, the party will take disciplinary action against you."

Over the weekend, Sudi disagreed with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who questioned the source of the money some leaders have been using to move all over the country.

"Where are these resources coming from, for politicking, when Kenyans are suffering? Choppers are being hired left, right and centre. Millions of shillings are being dished and Kenyans are suffering," Gachagua said.

The DP was speaking during a fundraiser in support of a women empowerment programme in Kesses, Uasin Gishu on Saturday.

The DP urged MPs to stay in their constituencies and serve their people. He said the habit of political tourism must stop.

In apparent rejoinder to the remarks, Sudi fired back saying he would not be intimidated to stop crisscrossing the country to support churches.

Sudi said he learnt the art of supporting churches from President William Ruto adding that the Kenya Kwanza government wouldn’t have gotten power if they stayed in their respective constituencies.

Wamuchomba has been openly defiant of various key policies by the Kenya Kwanza administration.

She also missed meetings sanctioned by the DP for leaders from her home county Kiambu.

In January, the Githunguri MP said she has no apologies to make for going against some of Kenya Kwanza's policies.

Wamuchomba said most of her views are informed by where and how he was brought up and schooled.

That background, she said, influences her actions and persuasions beyond the political expectations of other people.

"They only see us on screens and they don't understand the other burdens that we carry. I have very special burdens that I carry based on where I have come from," Wamuchomba said.

"I knew if I did agree with them then, there is a section of people that I represent which I felt were not going to be treated fairly."
