In the late hours of May 29 officers from Laare Police Station in Igembe North Sub-County, Meru County, swiftly responded to a distress call regarding a mob injustice incident at KK Etama Area.

Upon arrival, they successfully rescued a 25-year-old man who was suspected to be a member of a notorious gang linked to a series of carjacking and robbery incidents.

During the operation, police recovered a formidable AK-47 rifle along with an empty magazine at the homestead of another suspected gang member.

Additionally, another suspect believed to be associated with the criminal activities was apprehended to aid in the ongoing investigation.

"This intervention highlights the commitment of law enforcement to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents within the community," the National Police Service said in a statement Thursday.

NPS said the swift action of the police not only thwarted a potential act of mob justice but also led to the apprehension of individuals allegedly involved in serious criminal activities, thereby reinforcing the importance of vigilance and cooperation in maintaining law and order.
