UDA acting Secretary General Cleophas Malala has claimed the Party's Facebook page has been hacked.

Malala in a video seen by the Star Friday said the party has been hacked by a known person who he said is not a member of the secretariat.

"I want to announce that our communication platform, that is our official UDA Facebook page, has been hacked," he said.

"We have made report to Facebook administrators that our account has been hacked. Anything you see posted on the page should be ignored."

He exuded confidence that the party would in due course recover the account even as he urged members of the public to stay calm over the matter.

But President William Ruto's digital strategist Dennis Itumbi has however denied the claims and said the UDA party's social media pages are safe.

"The United Democratic Alliance, @UDAKenya, Pages are safe across Social Media to ignore anyone saying anything to the contrary," Itumbi tweeted.

The communication by Malala came after he clashed with the National Elections Board over the status of constituency elections in West Pokot.

While Malala had announced the elections had been suspended, NEB chairperson Anthony Mwaura dismissed his communique saying he has no powers to suspend polls.

The communication by Mwaura dismissing Malala's directive was first to be made on Facebook.

The post was however flagged as fake minutes later in another post that stated Malala's directive on the poll stand.

The clash came hot on the heels of reports of fallout in the ruling parties.
