Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Sunday June 2 vowed to continue reaching out to all leaders in Mt Kenya for the sake of unity .
Speaking at a church service in Buuri constituency, Meru, he noted that the unity of the region is essential as it translates to development .
He said that a united region is better as the unity will propel leaders to work together without unnecessary fights that hinder progress.
The DP also urged the region to expose political traitors who are being used by opponents to divide the community ahead of the next election.
Gachagua's call for unity in Mt Kenya has however not being welcomed by all leaders.
Other leaders from the region opposed to Gachagua’s push, say that the move would result in isolation of the region from he rest of the country.
The star Kenya sought from Kenya’s, on the view of Gachagua’s move to unite the people of Mt Kenya region.
This is what some had to say:
“I think the most important think that Gachagua should do is to first apologize to his people for what he did during the time of 2022 election, then later have a sit down and talk about how they are going to unite the people," Eugene a boda boda rider said.
"I think DP Gachagua is doing right, but the focus right now should be the unity of Kenyans not people from a particular region because we elected him for all Kenyans not a particular region," Peter Ndegwa said.
