Detectives have arrested three suspects linked to a escalating cases of motorcycle theft in Ruai and Kamulu areas.
The arrests followed an intelligence-led operation mounted by officers from the Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau (CRIB) at the DCI headquarters and their counterparts in Ruai.
“The three who are believed to be the architects of the illegal dealings were pursued and arrested following a tuktuk theft report by the devastated owner,” the DCI said.
Among the suspects is a former Kenya Navy officer in whose homestead the Tuktuk was recovered.
Police said the owner had parked the three-legged motorbike on Tuesday night after work but found it missing the next day.
The suspects were nabbed as they were busy dismantling it.
“Also found at the scene were a motorcycle make Jin Cheng (maroon) and a Nissan Wingroad (silver) believed to be used in distributing dismantled parts,” the DCI said.
The sleuths said the suspects have been detained at the Ruai Police Station.
The officers said two of their accomplices managed to slip away during the raid and are being pursued.
