The UDA party elections body has announced a three-day grassroots sensitisation campaign targeting at least 13 counties ahead of the second phase of polls.

The party has planned to hold the elections on June 28 and 29 in Kwale, Mombasa, Taita Taveta, Machakos, Kitui, Nyandarua and Tharaka Nithi.

In a notice by the National Elections Board chairperson Anthony Mwaura, the elections will also take place in Bungoma, Uasin Gishu, Garissa, Wajir, Siaya and Kisii.

"In preparation for the Phase II Grassroot elections scheduled for June 28th and 29th, 2024, the National Elections Board issues a notice of Phase II sensitization program for various counties,''  Mwaura said in the notice dated June 10.

The board appealed to the aspirants for various positions in the above counties to participate in the sensitisation programme ahead of the polls.

The exercise aims to allow the board to explain to aspirants the election regulations and also agree on the ground rules well before the elections.

The notice shows that the election body will on June 12 be at Ole Kalau Catholic church grounds, Tharaka Nithi County Social Hall, Garissa Government Guest House and Grand Oasis Hotel in Wajir.

On June 13, the teams shall be at Kwale Cultural Centre, Mombasa ASK ground, Voi County headquarters, Machakos Stadium, UDA office Bungoma Town and Kitui Town Kefri hall.

On June 14, the UDA elections board will be in the Uasin Gishu UDA annex hall, County Club Hotel Siaya and South Nyanza UDA office, Kisii.

"Your attendance and participation in this sensitisation exercise is highly encouraged,'' Mwaura said.

The road map to the second phase of the UDA elections follows a meeting of the National Executive Committee which gave the board the greenlight to proceed.

The NEC, chaired by President William Ruto on Saturday, called on the board to halt polls in areas where there are disputes as guided by the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal.
