President William Ruto on Thursday announced that former US President Barrack Obama would be visiting the country next year.
The President said the visit by Obama was agreed upon following a request he made during his state visit to America.
Ruto was speaking during the launch of a strategic plan of the Kenya Young Parliamentarians Association.
The President said he requested Obama to help set up a school of leadership at the University of Nairobi.
Ruto noted that they agreed to establish a leadership school in Nairobi similar to that at the Kennedy School of Leadership in Harvard.
"I requested him to assist us set up a school in the fashion of Kennedy School of Leadership in Havard but this time to be a school of leadership in Nairobi University and I asked him, let us call it Barrack Obama School of Leadership in the Univerity of Nairobi and he agreed and he will come here next year,"
He added: "And he has undertaken that he is going to mobilise support for a sustainable school of leadership because leadership is serious and we want you guys to be better than us."
The Head of State urged young leaders to go read and learn about leadership so that there can be better leaders in future.
Previously during his state visit to the US, President Ruto engaged in talks with the immediate former US head of state centred on democratic developments, climate change, peace and security challenges in Africa.
"I have had a productive engagement with the Former President of the United States of America Barack Obama. We exchanged views on democratic developments, climate and peace and security challenges in Africa,'' Ruto said.
The meeting happened at the Blair House, Washington, D.C., USA, hours before President Ruto's official reception at the White House.
President Ruto said the meeting also reviewed opportunities for Africa's young and dynamic demographic in tech, innovation, and higher and technical education.
Ruto said the engagement saw them exchange ideas on how Kenya and Africa can leverage U.S. institutions and technological capacity to advance its interests.
Obama expressed his gratitude on seeing President Ruto saying it was good to see him again.
