Guard killed in raid on school in Mai Mahiu

Detectives are looking for a gang that raided a school in Mai Mahiu area, Nakuru and killed a night guard.

The guard identified as Boaz Orono succumbed to injuries on arrival at Oakland Hospital in the area, police said.

The gang raided the school on Sunday morning and tied the guard on duty in a store after stabbing him three times in the head with a sharp object.

The gang then proceeded to the school store and stole three bags of rice and sugar.

They also raided a teacher’s house and stole a laptop and mobile phone.

Police said the gang escaped soon after the incident leaving the bleeding guard for death.

A team of detectives visited the scene and processed it as part of the probe into the murder.

No arrest has been made but police said they are pursuing good leads on the attackers.

The body was moved to a local mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures.

In Serem, Vihiga, a night guard of a local ward leader was found murdered at Kibeywa village.

Police said Nathan Muyongaa, 72, was attacked while guarding the petrol station during the night by unknown people.

He was hit on the head and died on the spot before the assailants proceeded to break into one shop and stole assorted items which included shoes, sugar, sufuria, cups, plates, and cash.

The gang set fire to a wooden gate in nearby residential houses before escaping.

No arrest has been made, police said adding investigations are ongoing.

Elsewhere in Limuru, Kiambu, the body of a 72-year-old woman was found with deep cuts at a farm in Thigio area.

The deceased identified as Margaret Wanjiru Kirangu first went missing from their house on Saturday evening.

Her body was found at Kari Farm hours later on Sunday, police said.

The body was found with a deep cut on the head and a knife placed at the neck which had some blood stains.

The motive of the murder and assailants are yet to be known, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary

In Eldoret West, at Moi’s Bridge, the body of a man was found near a church compound after a suspected murder.

The deceased was identified as Vincent Kariuki Mwangi, 22.

Police said the deceased body had a visible injury on the back of the head.

A suspect was arrested over the murder, police said as they moved the body to the mortuary pending autopsy.
