Hundreds of youths on Thursday morning to the streets of Eldoret to protest over the Finance Bill 20224.

Ant-riot police had been deployed at some of the meeting points where youth are set to assemble ahead of Finance Bill 2024 protests.

The youth through social media platforms had designated more than three meeting points in the town ahead of the protests.

By 8 am armed officers in two land rovers had been stationed at Zion Mall which is the main meeting point.

Other officers had also been deployed along Uganda Road and at the Kisumu Road junction.

“We will have peaceful processions to join other Kenyans in opposing the oppressive Finance Bill,” said one of the youth leaders Jared Kiptoo.

Security has also been tightened in other parts of the town.

Uasin Gishu police commander Benjamin Mwanthi said security measures were as usual in the region.

Human rights defenders in the town also issued notice to participate in protests in the town
