Following a day of unrest and protests that gripped Nairobi city, calm has returned as normalcy begins to settle back in.

The protests, sparked by the Finance Bill led to day-long confrontations between demonstrators and security officers resulting in temporary disruptions and road closures in several parts of the city.

And, even as the situation stabilizes a contingent of GSU officers, however, remains stationed around parliament buildings to ensure security.

Around KICC, was also a team of anti-riot officers.

At least four water cannons have also been strategically positioned along Parliament Road to deter any potential flare-ups.

Roads that were closed during the day have now been reopened, allowing traffic and business activities to resume.

Businesses, initially disrupted by the unrest have also started returning to their daily routines.

Nairobi City county workers were also seen collecting waste materials and cleaning up the town.
