Why Nyanza investment conference is key for region

In less than a week, Nyanza will hold its first regional International Investment Conference, bringing together professionals from across the counties of Kisii, Nyamira, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisumu, and Siaya counties.

These counties have significant and similar socio-economic challenges, with about 63 per cent of the population living on less than a dollar a day.

They, however, have a greater potential with per capita Gross County Product estimated to average Sh190,000, that can grow further up, with increased opportunities.

The professionals will come together for a Nyanza International Investment Conference that seeks to utilize fully the potential of the region to spur economic growth.

The conference will be held on June 28 and June 29, 2024.

The professionals will unpack existing and potential development challenges with a view of turning them into investable opportunities for private-sector investors, who are the biggest driver of sustainability.

This will in-turn culminate to the region’s economic empowerment, which will lead to eradication of poverty, and creation of employment opportunities, for residents of these counties.

National Government, county governments, development partners, business leaders, scholars, researchers, the local community, the Diaspora, international organisations, and all the friends of Nyanza are expected to work together to achieve this.

In Nyanza, vast opportunities exist in Infrastructure, Transport, Energy and Housing, Agriculture, Food Security, Nutrition and Health.

There is also Irrigation, Climate Change, Environment and Waste Management, Education, Tourism, Sports and the Creative Economy.

The forum will also leverage on Technologies and Innovation for the Blue Economy and Research, development together with Diaspora engagement to empower the region.
