Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi has changed tune on Finance Bill protests, now saying Gen Zs should be heard.

Speaking during a Sunday service, he lauded the young people for keeping peace and observing the law.

He also congratulated them for their determination, saying it was time they were heard.

"Nataka niambie hawa vijana ninawapongeza sana kwa sababu kwanza juzi walifanya maandamano yao sio wakabila, hawajui wewe ni wa kutoka kona gani," he said.

This is loosely translated to, "I want to tell these young people that I appreciate them a lot because first, when they were protesting, they were tribeless, they don't know who is from what corner of the country."

Sudi said he had spoken to President William Ruto about the young protesters and urged him to put their demands into consideration.

"I spoke to the President and told him we have to listen to these young people. Before we prepare next year's Finance Bill, we must have a sit down with them," he said.

He said no one should condemn them, saying the determination of Gen Z shows their self-awareness.

He told them to make sure they obey and keep the law if they are to continue protesting.

"I laud the determination and zeal demonstrated by the youthful Gen-Z. Going forward, the current leadership must incorporate their concerns in making major decisions. This is truly an awakening moment for our youth in their journey to self-realisation," Sudi said.

The MP voted Yes to the Finance Bill 2024.

While addressing congregants, Sudi said the Finance Bill will help young people access education with ease.

However, while he was almost concluding his speech, Sudi was interrupted by the priest.

The priest asked him not to engage in politics during the church service.

"Nimemaliza Father nimemaliza," Sudi said.
