Former Chief Justice Willy Mutunga is Monday expected to accompany three activists who have been in hiding for fears of abductions to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations headquarters.

In a statement on Sunday, Mutunga said the activists include Boniface Mwangi, Hanifa Adan and Haki Africa executive director Hussein Khalid.

The three will appear at the DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road at 11 am on Monday.

"Tomorrow at 11 am I shall accompany Hanifa Adan Hussein Khalid and Boniface Mwangi to DCI_Kenya HQs on Kiambu Road. Mwangi was almost abducted outside the City Mortuary on Friday contrary to Art. 238(2)(b) of the Constitution. Join us in solidarity," he said on X.

The move comes amid a wave of abductions of people who have been vocal in the protests against the Finance Bill, 2024.

Some of those arrested include blogger Billy Simani, and Dr Austin Omondi alias Japrado who have since been released.

On Sunday night, Shad Khalif was also abducted from Sanasana in South B and his whereabouts remain unknown.

A black double-cab pickup and white Toyota Prado were seen trailing the popular social media user before he was forcibly abducted in South B, Nairobi on Sunday evening.

Several other youths who took the lead in the protests are reported to have gone into hiding over the same.

They claim to be trailed by unknown people.

During the first 'Occupy Parliament' protests on Tuesday, Boniface Mwangi was among three protesters who spent the night in police custody.

They were released on Wednesday last week after the Milimani court said it had no jurisdiction to hear their case.
