Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma has said that he will subject any of his children who will not take part in anti-Finance Bill protests to a DNA test.

He said that they must stand against over-taxation and corruption in government.

In a post on X, Kaluma said the children of Kenya must team up to succeed where the older generation failed.

"Any child of mine who will not go to the streets with other children of Kenya this Tuesday to protest over-taxation and corruption in government will face a DNA test! The children of Kenya must walk together to succeed where we failed," the legislator said.

His remarks come ahead of Tuesday's planned protests by the youth across the country.

The protests are set to continue this week with its climax scheduled for Thursday.

Last week, Gen Zs in Kenya staged countrywide protests over the Finance Bill, 2024 calling for its rejection.

The protests began in Nairobi on Tuesday and in Mombasa on Wednesday.

On Thursday, various other parts of the country joined the protests including Kisii, Kisumu, Nakuru, Nyeri, and Nanyuki, among others.

Despite the protests, 204 Members of Parliament voted in favour of the Bill, as 105 others voted against it.

With the majority having their way, it will now move to the Committee of the whole House where amendments will be made starting Tuesday, next week.
