Tear gas fired as Migori youths protest against Finance Bill

Police in Migori were Thursday morning forced to fire tear gas and bullets in the air t as they engaged demonstrators in Migori Town.

Before 6am, youths lit bonfires and used boulders to seal off Migori town and Kiringi bridges with vehicles, businesses and traders keeping off for fear of looting.

Youths have been engaging police as attempts to access Migori county commissioner offices have been thwarted severally.

On Tuesday, a youth was shot in the abdomen and was rushed to Migori Referral Hospital where he received treatment.

The victim is in stable condition.

Protesters had vowed to continue with their demos Thursday despite President William Ruto withdrawing the Bill on Wednesday.
