The mother of 12-year-old Kennedy Onyango has expressed her pain after receiving the postmortem report of her late son.
Onyango was shot during anti-Finance Bill protests in Rongai, Kajiado county last week.
Addressing the media, Josinta Anyango said her son was innocent, saying he could not have joined the anti-Finance Bill protests.
"Kama ni risasi mtoto wangu hana hatia, hawezi enda maandamano. Mtoto wangu hana hatia na risasi si ya kuua mtoto," she said.
This is loosely translated to, "If it was a bullet my son is innocent, he could not protest. My son is innocent and bullets should not be used to kill a child."
The postmortem examination of the body of Onyango revealed he was shot once in his shoulder.
Government pathologist Peter Ndegwa said Onyango died of severe haemorrhage (excessive bleeding) caused by a long-range bullet wound.
"Kennedy Onyango's death was the result of severe hemorrhage and the nature of the bullet wound indicates that it was fired from a long range. This is contrary to reports that have been going round that Kennedy was shot eight times," Ndegwa said on Monday.
Anyango said her son was a promising artist with a dream of going to the United States of America to pursue his talent further.
"I lack words to describe how I am feeling, my son was killed in the most gruesome manner," she said.
She called for justice for her son.
