Detectives are investigating an incident in which the body of a bodaboda rider was found on the roadside in Athi River, Machakos County.

The body of Samuel Waweru was found on the roadside long after he had been murdered.

The motive of the murder is yet to be known, police said of the Sunday June 30 incident.

The body had visible injuries when it was found near a restaurant along Yeyani Whistling Moran Road near Yeyani Resort.

He was also the chairman of a group of bodaboda riders in the area. His motorcycle is missing and efforts to trace it are ongoing, police said.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and investigations.

Elsewhere, police are investigating an incident in which a 45-year-old man was found dead after he had checked into a lodging in Ngong Town, Kajiado County.

The deceased had on June 29 checked into the room at a restaurant in the area but failed to wake up the following day.

He was in the company of a woman when he checked into the room.

The woman was however absent when the body was discovered, police said.

Cleaners were working on the rooms hours later when they realized the affected room was locked from inside yet the occupants are supposed to have left.

The management used a spare key and found the body lying on the bed.

The body with no visible injuries was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy.

Police say they are looking for the woman who was with the man for interrogation.

The police want to understand what transpired to lead to the death.

Police in Mbeere, Embu are investigating possible arson in an incident where a 72-year-old woman was killed.

The incident happened in Gachoka village where locals reported there was a house on fire.

Police officers responded and, with the help of the members of the public, managed to contain the fire. The body of Nancy Mwendia Njoka aged 72 years was discovered after the fire had been contained.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other investigations.
