Three people were on Tuesday arraigned before Milimani Law Court and charged with interfering with condemned milk powder meant for destruction.

The trio, Florence Wanjiku, Moses Boyi Odhiambo and Daniel Ngugi appeared before Milimani Magistrate Victor Wakumile and denied the charges.

A warrant of arrest had been issued against the three after they failed to appear in court on June 20 when four others were charged with similar offences.

According to the charge sheet, it is alleged that on May 3, 2023 at Sambot Ships Contractors within Mombasa county, jointly with others not before the court and without the authority of the commissioner customs and border control, they interfered with 1511 bags each containing 25kgs of condemned milk powder.

Prosecution counsel Duncan Ondimu said these bags were subject to customs control because of having been siezed for destruction.

The trio faced another country of stealing the said bags, property belonging to the Kenya Revenue Authority.

They denied the charges and were released on a bond of Sh200,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh100,000.

The Magistrate directed that the matter be mentioned on July 15 for further directions.
