Tranzoia County Governor George Natembeya has said MPs who voted in favor of the 2024/2025 Finance bill that was recently rejected by the head of state after the Gen-Z protests are hypocrites who fight for their interests only.

Natembeya attributed the current unrest in the country to the unequal distribution of resources and unemployment among the young generations.

The Governor says the recent allocation of Kikuyu constituency where the leader of majority from the National assembly was allocated KSh. 1.5 Billion for road construction, compared to the KSh. 200 million allocated for the entire western region.

Governor Natembeya was speaking while in Namanjalala area where he was meeting locals over development projects within Tranzoia County.

The county chief noted that members of parliament who voted for the rejected finance bill were aware from the beginning that it was unfriendly to ordinary people but proceeded with it intentionally.

"If you want to know that they knew, it is that the same MPs who voted 'yes' clapped and laudedthe president after he rejected assenting to it," said Natembeya.

“Luhya community should unite with other communities to consolidate their votes in one basket, thereby increasing the western region's bargaining power in the country’s leadership,” Natembeya stated.

He added that his administration has allocated KSh. 80 million in the new financial year for Kazi Mashinani, an initiative allowing youths to work for two hours a day and be well paid.

The program began this year, and the youths who have worked so far will start receiving their pay from Tuesday.

Additionally, he said his administration would strengthen the Nawiri Fund, where the vulnerable in society will be allocated funds as capital to fund tenders awarded by the county government.

This, the governor said, is meant to economically empower the locals.

Governor Natembeya also mentioned that a maternity wing established at Namanjalala Dispensary would soon be equipped and more personnel hired to make it operational.
