Tana River man raids ex-wife's home, shoots dead her husband

A 70-year-old man was shot and killed in a shooting incident in Bangale, Tana River county.

Police said the incident happened in Boka village within the Boka sub-location and involved one Abdile Nadhir.

The incident happened on July 3, police said.

The deceased was in his house with his wife when an assailant armed with a rifle knocked demanding it be opened.

Once inside, he was shot with a single bullet killing him on the spot.

Police said it was further established that the deceased had married the said wife one year ago after divorcing the suspected assailant.

The suspect went ahead and collected his two children a boy aged 10 years and a girl aged 12 years old whom he had sired with the woman before the divorce.

The suspect ran away to an unknown destination with the children.

Police said they recovered a spent cartridge at the scene of the murder.

The body was moved to Garissa Level Five Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.

A hunt on the said assailant is ongoing, police said.
