Met: Parts of Kenya to receive rains this weekend, early next week

Met said rainfall is expected over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley and the Lake Victoria Basin.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has issued a weather advisory for the weekend and early next week.

In a statement on Saturday, the weatherman said Kenyans should expect rainfall in some parts of the country.

According to Kenya Met rainfall is expected over the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and North-western Kenya.

Counties in the regions set to receive rainfall include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka and Nairobi.

Other counties are Trans Nzoia, Turkana, Baringo, Marakwet, West Pokot, Kericho, Nandi, Samburu, Naivasha, Laikipia, Narok and Kajiado will receive rainfall of up to 15mm.

Parts of Nairobi will also experience rainfall of up to 15mm over the weekend.

Parts of Kwale, Mombasa and Kilifi are also set ti experience rainfall of up to 10mm.

The Department further added that there will be an intermittent cool and cloudy condition expected over some parts of the Highlands East.

Other areas to have intermittent cool and cloudy conditions are the West of the Rift Valley, the South-eastern lowlands and the Rift Valley.

The Met Department said there will be strong southerly to south-easterly winds with speeds exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s) expected over some parts of the Coast and North- Eastern Kenya.
