An early Saturday morning accident on the Nairobi Expressway caused a huge traffic jam.
The accident led to a jam that lasted hours and stretched for kilometres.
Motorists were asked to divert to different alternative routes.
This was after a trailer overturned on the busy new road blocking the city-bound traffic.
Police rushed to the scene after the 7 am accident involving a trailer headed for Uganda.
A crane was brought to the scene near Panari Hotel to help clear the mess.
The road was, however, cleared around 9:50am.
Police said they are investigating the accident.
It is not clear what caused the trailer to overturn and block the road.
The expressway is a key link road that helps in offloading traffic to and from the city.
Meanwhile. at least 13 pupils of a primary school in Kwale were injured when a bus they were travelling in was involved in an accident along Kidimu-Majoreni-Vanga Road.
The bus was carrying about 95 pupils from Majoreni Primary and Junior Secondary when it was involved in an accident.
Police said the accident happened on July 5 at about 6 pm.
The group had attended inter-school games and was headed home when the bus overturned in the area.
Police said 13 of the pupils had injuries on their hands, chest, legs and heads.
They were rushed to Msambweni Referral Hospital where they were admitted in stable condition.
Police said they are investigating the incident.
The bus was later towed to Lungalunga police station for inspection as part of the investigation into the incident.
