Man found with five dead deers shot dead in West Pokot

Police are investigating an incident in which a 30-year-old man was shot and killed in Turkwel, Marich, West Pokot County.

Police said the man was shot dead while in possession of five dead deers.

It is not clear where he got the animals. It is however believed he had killed them at the nearby national parks.

Poaching is rampant in the area.

Police and Kenya Wildlife Service officials however denied they killed the man.

The poachers target all kinds of wild animals in the park. The animals include elephants.

His body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and other procedures. The dead dears were photographed and disposed off, police said.

Police say they are investigating the incident which happened on July 6.

In Isiolo, police said they are investigating the death of a 35-year-old man whose body was found on the roadside.

The body of Shadrack Muriuki was found with no visible injuries.

The body was found at the gate of a local mosque in the Wabera area mosque.

The body was moved to Meru Referral Mortuary awaiting postmortem.
