President William Ruto sent a congragulatory message to 1,500 metres World Record holder Faith Kipyegon on Sunda for breaking her record.

In his message, the President said Kipyegon's victory is a testament to the rewards of hard work and determination.

He said it is also a valuable lesson to all aspiring athletes who look up to her.

"Faith Kipyegon has once again made history. Congratulations on breaking your own record in the 1500m race. Your victory is a testament to the rewards of hard work and determination, a valuable lesson to the aspiring young athletes who look up to you," Ruto said on X.

His remarks came after Kipyegon once again broke her record in the race, at the Paris Diamond League.

Kipyegon set the new record by clocking a time of 3:49:04 at Stade Charlety led out by two pacemakers.

She eclipsed her previous record by 0.07sec set in Florence in June 2023.

Australian Jessica Hull came second with the fifth fastest 1500m time in history clocking 3:50:83.

Ruto also commended Amos Serem and Abraham Kibiwott for coming in second and third place in the men's 3000m steeplechase.

He noted that the country is proud of the team representing it at the competition in Paris, France.

"We are proud of Team Kenya for their outstanding representation at the Paris Diamond League."
