Interior CS Kithure Kindiki has lauded the dialogue call by President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga aimed at addressing pertinent issues facing the nation.

Kindiki said continuous dialogue is a relief towards the search for consensus.

In a statement after the two leaders agreed to hold a week-long dialogue beginning Monday, Kindiki said this will also help in the quest to find solutions to priority issues affecting the country.

He went on to say that the country, despite the many challenges has always found a way to overcome them.

He added that enactment of the new IEBC law is a good step towards eliminating threats to the stability of the country and promoting unity.

"The assent of the IEBC Amendment Act of 2024 earlier today and the commitment by President Ruto and ODM Leader Raila Odinga to continuous dialogue, offers relief to a nation in search of consensus and a broad-based political route for addressing priority matters of creation of jobs and income opportunities for the youth, the debt burden, public expenditure cuts, and the fight against corruption," Kindiki said.

His remarks come after President Ruto and the former Prime Minister Raila agreed to commence a six-day multi-sectorial forum.

The forum, set to begin on Monday, July 15  and conclude on Saturday, will foster national dialogue and seek lasting solutions to Kenya's pressing issues.

Ruto emphasised the importance of the forum stating that it will propose the way forward for the country.

“This forum will begin on Monday, next week and end on Saturday next week, it will be a 6-day forum and will propose the way forward for the country,” Ruto said

The ODM leader reiterated the importance of the forum, saying that it will give Kenyans a chance to be heard.

"Dialogue is the way forward out of the crisis we're having in our country," Raila added.

"We have agreed that we give people an opportunity to be heard, to express themselves so that a lasting solution can be found."
