Security Guard who was reportedly fired for helping protesters during the anti-Finance Bill protests has been reinstated.

Private security officer Vincent Chepkwony reportedly lost his job after he helped protesters shield themselves from harm during protests.

Chepkwony has also been awarded the highest commendation and recognition for a Private Security Officer in Kenya for his bravery and unwavering commitment to duty.

The Private Security Regulatory Authority (PSRA) directed Hatari Security Limited to reinstate Chepkwony to his role as a security guard with immediate effect.

PSRA said Chepkwony's actions exemplified the dedication, selfless patriotism and courage exhibited by security personnel in safeguarding life and property.

PSRA said his reinstatement stands as a testament to the core values that uphold the private security industry in Kenya.

"After a comprehensive review, the Authority firmly concluded that Chepkwony's actions were heroic, patriotic and commendable and therefore warranted a promotion and not a dismissal from duty," PSRA said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the meeting was attended by Chepkwony and the Managing Director of Hatari Security Stephen Mwangi.

PSRA said the meeting aimed to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding his termination and seek a fair resolution.

Chepkwony was hailed by Kenyans for shielding protesters from tear gas and harm during the protests.

Kenyans across the country took to the streets to demonstrate against the Finance Bill 2024.

President William Ruto declined to sign the controversial Finance Bill, 2024 which sparked the outrage.
