Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has directed the National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK) to make public the full Kenya delegation for the Paris Olympics 2024.

In a letter dated July 11, 2024, Ababu emphasized the government's commitment to openness.

He stated that the public disclosure of the Team Kenya delegation is in line with the government's transparency and accountability policy.

The directive mandates NOCK to reveal the names and roles of all athletes, officials, and medics selected for the Olympic Games.

“The delegation to be kept at the barest minimum as directed by myself and affirmed by the PMC, the priority is athletes, their coaches and medics,” the letter reads.

The CS also instructed the secretary general to rationalize the provisional budget initially agreed upon by NOCK and the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Sports.

“The final budget to reflect the actual number of qualified athletes, revised scale of allowances and rewards for athletes as per the 2023 adjustments, and the austerity measures the Ministry is implementing across all expenditure centres,” the letter reads in part.

Additionally, NOCK has been tasked with preparing a comprehensive report detailing the process, status, and cost of procuring ceremonial, training, and competition kits for Team Kenya.

The report, along with the finalized delegation and budget, is to be presented at the next Preparatory and Management Committee (PMC) meeting.
