The Independent Policing Oversight Authority now says that it has so far received 10 complaints of arrests, abductions and disappearances as a result of anti-Finance Bill protests.

In a statement on Friday, Ipoa said the cases are at different stages of analysis and investigation.

Chairperson Anne Makori said they have also acted on some of these cases.

In eight cases, Ipoa said the victims were found alive with allegations of harassment and torture.

The authority, however, said that it has been unable to access the victims.

"We request victims and any other relevant eyewitnesses to come forward and record statements to facilitate speedy investigations of these allegations," Makori said.

In two other cases in Nairobi, one victim is still missing, while the other was found dead.

"Ipoa has attended post-mortem; has requested for police documents; and it calls upon eye witness accounts including anyone who can supply verifiable CCTV footage or photographs."

The authority is also looking into three other cases in Isiolo County where three persons were allegedly abducted.

Makori reaffirmed Ipoa's commitment to probing these cases.

"Ipoa remains steadfast in its commitment to conduct its investigations with utmost independence, impartiality, fairness and neutrality."

Several cases of alleged abductions were reported in the wake of the anti-Finance Bill protests, across the country.
