One person was arrested as anti-riot police took control of the streets in Eldoret to stop protests.
A youthful protestor who was whistling to mobilise his colleagues was arrested outside Zion Mall where groups of youth had begun to gather for protests.
The group of youth engaged police in an argument insisting that they be allowed to mobilise and carry out peaceful protests.
A leader of the youth who was whistling was bundled into a landrover and whisked away.
“We are not interested in violence. All we want is peaceful protests to push for our rights,” said one of the youths.
However, the town remained calm with large contingents of police seen patrolling all the streets in the town.
More than 15 lorries carrying police officers were seen patrolling all parts of the town
