Isinya DCI officers recover 9 stolen sheep, vehicle used by rustlers

The suspected rustlers escaped into the darkness in the Birika area in Kajiado West sub-county

Directorate of Criminal Investigations officers in Isinya recovered nine live sheep and a vehicle used by rustlers Tuesday morning, after several hours of chasing.

The officers were on patrol at 2am along the Isinya-Namanga road when they spotted a motor vehicle.

When they signaled the driver to stop, he defied the order and sped off towards Isinya direction.

The officers gave chase and while at Isinya town, the driver diverted to Kiserian road and was pursued past Birika market where they diverted to Murram road.

The driver abandoned the vehicle after about 800 metres.

Three men emerged from the vehicle, registration number KCY 801J, and fled in different directions.

No arrests were made.

“Upon searching the abandoned vehicle, whose engine was still running, they found nine live sheep and on further search they found two metal rods, two jackets and two torches,” Isinya OCPD Patrick Manyasi said. 

The vehicle and the livestock were taken to Isinya Police Station.
