President William Ruto has gazetted the dismissal of his entire Cabinet and assigned Prime Cabinet Secretary to act in all the vacant ministerial positions.
In the gazette notice dated July 12, the President said the ministerial positions of 21 Cabinet Secreatries and the Attorney General are now officially vacant.
Ruto said the review and re-organisation of his administration was necessary to embed operational enhancements and foster responsive governance.
He said he reached the decision following overwhelming feedback from Kenyans on government's performance of its functions.
"Now therefore, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, by the Authority vested in me by the Constitution and the Laws of the Republic of Kenya, do hereby order and direct that in accordance with Article 152 (5) (b) of Constitution, the Cabinet Secretaries listed below have be dismissed from office as stated," the notice reads.
The CSs are Kithure Kindiki (Interior), Simon Chelugui ( Cooperatives and SMEs), Aden Duale (Defence), Njuguna Ndung'u (Treasury), Davis Chirchir (Energy), Alfred Mutua (Tourism and Wildlife), Alice Wahome (Lands).
Ababu Namwamba (Youth and Sports), Salim Mvurya (Mining), Kipchumba Murkomen (Roads and Transport), Moses Kuria (Public Service and Delivery Services), Soipan Tuya (Environment and Forest).
Mithika Linturi (Agriculture), Aisha Jumwa (Gender), Ezekiel Machogu (Education), Eluid Owalo (ICT), Rebecca Miano (Trade and Industry), Susan Nakhumicha (Health), Peninah Malonza (EAC, ASAL and Regional Development), Zacharia Njeru ( Water, Sanitation and Irrigation) and Florence Bore (Labour).
Ruto said the dismissal of the Cabinet will enhance efficiency, effectiveness, transparency, and accountability in public service delivery.
This, he said will be realised in the realignment of the government whose lineup he said would have the face of the country.
"I will immediately engage in extensive consultations across different sectors and political formations, with the aim of settingup a broad-based government," Ruto said on Thursday, July 11 after dismissing the Cabinet.
He said the newly structured cabinet will assit him in accelerating the necessary radical programmes to deal with the burden of debt, raising domestic resources, expanding job opportunities, eliminate wastage and unnecessary duplication of a multiplicity ofgovernment agencies.
He said the team will also help slay the dragon of corruption and consequently make the government lean, inexpensive, effective and efficient.
"I will be announcing additional measures in due course," he said.
